Vacation time….

I know it seems like I/we have had a lot of vacations lately, with Gen Con, That Board Game Thing, and well of course Gyroplay relocating to Antarctica of all places, but yes it’s time for family GeekJock to head to the beach for the annual vacation.

With the kids weird year round thing their school does they get this 3 week “track out” during October. So it’s that time for us to go hit some R and R at the outer banks in NC!

We were scheduled to record this past week but some work scheduling problems and Adam O being a bit under the weather had forced us to cancel. I am going to try and get in a recording of some sort (if I am lucky) while down there, even perhaps a game review with the MRS. or little Peanut GeekJock (my daughter). But, of course I have said this about Gen Con and TBGT recordings and they never materialized either.

Either way we will be back behind the mics before you know it. Worst Case I have been trying to put together a play session of Princes of the Dragon Throne with the boys and then we shall get a nice review/session report after it.

See everyone soon.. Stay Classy Internet!

Episode 35– Teaching a LoL noob with Josh Augustine

Somehow the last time I posted this has gone bye bye so here goes again….

This is the next installment of Josh Augustine trying his hardest to turn GeekJock into a legit or rather just a respectable LoL player.

We talk about some of the happenings in my weeks of LoL, give some advice and even a homework assignment.

It’s always a fun time when we get Josh on the show and I hope to keep improving week to week.

Look for my updates via GeekJockBlog.com in the weeks to come. I hope to have an updated diary postsometime next week.

In Show news…. Mrs GeekJock is having major surgery tomorrow so it will keep me away a bit. I am hoping we can get a show in real soon, but I am not 100% sure when that will be. We hope to not be away for too long.

The Geek Allstars Episode 34— How we became geeks

Tonight we give a history of how we became Geeks.

What games we started with what movies and concerts ect.

Since tonight is likely the last time the three of us will be together recording in the same room for some time we wanted to get nostalgic for it all.

Gyroplay will be hitting the road in a few weeks for Antarctica and Red will be getting married and eventually hitting the road for a new city for a few years in the coming months.

We will still be recording regularly but likely via skype when with red and hopefully Gyroplay some…. and more with GeekJock and Adam/Chris.

Also I hoped to get the next installment of “Teach a noob LoL” with Josh Augustine in this episode but it would have pushed us way over 2 hours, so that will be it’s own sep. episode. Should be up by Friday!

Thanks for listening!

The Geek Allstars Episode 33– Gen Con 2012 Recap

Today we are joined by Dice Hate Me Chris as we go back in time one week and talk about our trip to GEN CON!

Dan, Chris and Adam (All who went) are joined by Red (who could not go) for the recap of all things good and bad of this years Gen Con.

There was more good then bad and I know I speak for all of us when I say we cannot wait for next year!

I forgot to mention a couple of things on the show. First a big shout out to the guys from 3Some Games who I caught up with and saw a demo of Heroes of Metro City. (Now on Kickstarter go check it out!)

Also sorry to Matthew Papa who I mention on the show, but completely forgot his name. Loved the demo of Monolith and cannot wait to get it in hand!

Again as mentioned on the show I REALLY enjoyed meeting a ton of BGGers and fellow guildies from here (especially very cool to meet Chris and Craig from our guild).

I also stop the show to complain about people who won’t stop arguing about Mechanic vs Mechanism. (My 2c pick one, shut up, and go back to playing games).

As always check us out on FB,Twitter, or join the guild on BGG!

Episode 32 Looking forward to Gen Con and the NEW LoL segment.

This episode we try a few things we haven’t in a while.

First new guest segment!

Yep we have the new “Mentor a Noob At LoL” segment, starring GeekJock and Josh Augustine. This is going to be a monthly (or so) segment where I check back in with Josh and we talk about how things are going and tweak my strategy a bit. (Segment starts about 43 min mark)

And second we have a show with just GeekJock and Red. Gyroplay couldn’t make it today.

This show talk about the play of Alien Frontiers Factions and The Dominant Species card game, get some Kickstarter updates, and after the new segment we talk about a ton of games we are looking forward to at Gen Con.

As always Thanks for listening!

Episode 31 Interview with Heroes of Metro City Co-Developer David Boostrom

Today we are excited to bring you an exclusive interview with one of the designers/publishers of the Kickstarter game Heroes of Metro City.

GeekJock talks with David to find out about the past present and future of the project.

What it is, where it is going and why should we back it!

I tried to ask some questions we might all have on our minds and about some things that 3Some Games might have in store for the game/project.

Thanks to David for a great interview and please check out their web site http://www.heroesofmetrocity.com/ and their Kickstarter page

It’s a game I think will be loads of fun for gamers and families alike. Please check it out so we can get it fully funded!
